As school is just around the corner and the to-do lists start to stretch and grow, make sure that you also have talking to your children about how to be safe on the way to and from school on the top of the list. This includes planning out and practicing a safe route with your kids so they understand the traffic crossings of their route and landmarks to help them stay the course. Talking to kids about using crosswalks whenever possible and checking both ways before crossing the road all the time. It can be hard to have these conversations and possibly worry little ones but it is important that they are prepared with how to complete the trips safely. Including walking with friends whenever possible and what to do if approached by someone. SERVPRO® of Tigard/Tualatin & SERVPRO® of Beaverton have Home Emergency Books available that are great to go through as a family to make sure kiddos have important contact information for trusted friends and family members in case of emergencies.
