Tigard/Tualatin South Metro weather alerts and how to receive them

The residents located in the South Metro area in the Portland Metropolitan area, there are various different ways to keep informed during inclement weather events, including severe storm events. SERVPRO of Tigard/Tualatin/Lake Oswego/West Linn and Beaverton is passionate about preparedness. We at SERVPRO believe that safety is the most important part of responding to a storm event. Once the storm passes, our crews are ready to respond to businesses and homes in our community that need to recover after property damage. 

If you live in the three largest cities in the South Metro - Tigard, Tualatin, or Beaverton and their surrounding areas - check below to see where you can receive emergency weather alerts prior to our winter storm season.

Please note: In the case of snow, ice, or freezing rain conditions, be wary of driving and reduce your driving activities, if possible. Stay up to date with road and weather conditions in your area, and be aware of the risks. For example, the Tigard Police Department may issue tickets for abandoned vehicles during snow events, as cars blocking roads and freeways in prior years have created further unsafe road conditions.

City of Tigard 

The City of Tigard uses CodeRED, an emergency notification service that allows emergency officials to notify residents and businesses by telephone, cell phone, text message, email and social media. Tigard uses CodeRED for time-sensitive general and emergency notifications, for messages concerning safety, property or welfare of the community, and it may include AMBER alerts, hazardous traffic and road conditions, boil water advisors, or evacuation notices.

City of Tualatin

The City of Tualatin, like much of the South Metro Area, uses PublicAlerts.org to issue time-sensitive and emergency notifications to their residents. A taped recording with public safety instructions is provided to the landline phones in the affected area homes or businesses.

If you don’t have a landline phone or want to be notified via other communication devices, you can register at PublicAlerts.org. You will be able to choose voice over internet (VoIP) phone alerts, email alerts, and/or text/SMS messaging alerts.

City of Beaverton

To stay informed in the Beaverton area, you can always visit the City of Beaverton website here to see what the current conditions are. Additionally, you can register for email, phone, or text/SMS alerts on PublicAlerts.org.

The City of Beaverton has also installed a low-power AM radio station that broadcasts within a three-mile radius from the tower installed on the roof of Beaverton City Hall. You can tune in to the radio station at 1610 AM, known as WQCI-718 by the FCC. In the event of a disaster or emergency, citizens of Beaverton will be able to listen to WQCI-718 for up-to-the-minute reports, instructions, and specific alerts that would pertain to the Beaverton area specifically.
