“Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

“Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

This past weekend and into this week the news has been consumed with stories of death and destruction, both natural and manmade. It is important that after that disaster there are people stepping up to help, in both big and small ways. From aid workers traveling to Napel to help on the ground to restore that beautiful country and its people or college students making a decision to send money to help and skipping their morning latte. We have heard a lot about the riots in Baltimore at night, but very little about the community members the next morning. Groups of citizens out to clean up the streets and help businesses get back on their feet and open again. It reminded us of this quote from Mr. Rogers,

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” To this day, especially in times of “Disaster,” I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world.”

So we at SERVPRO of Tigard/Tualatin & SERVPRO of Beaverton wanted to thank the “Helpers”, the First Responders who drop everything and run to help when disaster hits, the elementary children who save their money to send to those in need, the doctors and nurses who go to serve and provide aid. To all those who recognize that their community, this global community; is better when everyone works together and thinks beyond themselves to serve others. So, Thank You to all of the helpers across the globe!
