SERVPRO of Tigard/Tualatin and SERVPRO of Beaverton, happy being uncommon.

3/2/2015 (Permalink)

Our amazing UNCOMMON crew at SERVPRO of Tigard/Tualatin and SERVPRO of Beaverton

Every year we at SERVPRO of Tigard/Tualatin and SERVPRO of Beaverton set aside a half a day to come together and speak about our last year, the year ahead and what sets us apart in a sea of green and yellow. Our mourning is full of games and awards voted on by managers and coworkers. It is a fun day filled with gams and relays and always ends with a marshmallow fight. This year was no different and we can’t wait to share some of those fun exciting moments soon. But first we wanted to share some strong and wise words from Kathy Linderman our owner. This is what she shared with us last Friday.

“I was thinking about this meeting and what I wanted to say. Scott, Lane, Terin and I were talking the other day about the culture of our company. We all agreed we have a great culture, but it took some thinking to realize what our culture is. The definition of culture is; “the belief, custom or way of thinking of a particular group.” So when I started thinking about our beliefs, customs and way of thinking I realized how uncommon we are.

Uncommon is usually not thought of as a good thing, but let’s think about us…. I walk in the front door every morning and say “Good Morning” to everyone I see. I hear all of you say “Good Morning” to each other. AB, Elmer or Javier starts each and every WIP (Work In Progress) meeting by saying “Good Morning Everyone, let’s begin.” I read somewhere that if you say good morning to 10 people you will be ready to have a good day. I believe this is a part of our culture here and it is uncommon.

I hear people speak politely to each other, saying “Please” and “Thank you”. That may be silly to some people but I don’t think it is. I think it is part of our culture and I think it is uncommon.

One of the other things I love about our culture is when people ask “Does anyone need help?” I see that questions in texts throughout the day and into the evening. Someone may have just gotten out of a sewage filled crawlspace for 8 hours and they still ask if anyone else needs help. They know the day is not done until all crews are done. That is part of our culture and that is uncommon.

We can get 12 people out of bed, to drop what plans they had to respond to a loss on a weekend, evening, or even the middle of the night. It is part of our culture and that is uncommon.

After losing Walt and me going through my treatments, we still grew our volume and our team. That is our culture and that is uncommon.

We have not let anything slow us down or scare us from what we do best and doing it the right way all the time. That is uncommon.

In 2015 we did 705 water jobs, 81 fire jobs, 57 molds jobs, 25 bio clean ups and helped over 1,060 people when disaster hits, and that is uncommon. “

We are proud to be different from the rest of the restoration company’s in the area. We are proud that the culture we have created for ourselves is one that encourages creativity, hard work, honesty, team work and so much more.
