Keeping matches from children reduces the risk of home fires

10/19/2018 (Permalink)

Keeping matches out of the hands of kids can reduce the risk of home fire from accidents, fireworks or candles. And help keep them safe.

October is home fire prevention month SERVPRO® of Tigard/Tualatin has been bringing you tips and information from the Red Cross on how to prevent fire and save lives throughout the month. Each year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 64,000 disasters, the majority of which are home fires resulting in about 7 deaths and 36 injuries every day and over $7 billion in property damage every year. The Red Cross recommends keeping matches, lighters and other ignitable substances in a secured location out of the reach of children. Only use lighters with child-resistant features in the home as often times fire started can look like a toy for children. For more tips on home fire safety and prevention contact SERVPRO® of Beaverton at 503-684-5829, we are ready to help you make it “Like it never even happened.” We have been helping customers like you since 1991 when disaster strikes, we are ready 24/7, 365 to help you.  #SERVPROTigard #SERVPRO #FirePreventionMonth
