Get out during a home fire

10/24/2018 (Permalink)

During a home fire from a candle or eclectic appliance it is very important to get out of the home and stay out so fire fighters can get in.

October is home fire prevention month so during October SERVPRO® of Tigard/Tualatin & SERVPRO® of Beaverton has been bringing you tips and information from the Red Cross on how to prevent fire and save lives. Each year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 64,000 disasters, the majority of which are home fires resulting in about 7 deaths and 36 injuries every day and over $7 billion in property damage every year. The Red Cross recommends emphasizing “get out, stay out” with all members of the home especially children. Only professional firefighters should enter a building that is on fire- even if other family members, pets or prized possessions are inside. By re-entering a burning building it can not only put you in danger but it can also lead to a great rescue operation putting more first responders in the line of danger. For more tips on home fire safety and prevention contact SERVPRO® of Tigard/Tualatin & SERVPRO® of Beaverton at 503-684-5829, we are ready to help you make it “Like it never even happened.” #SERVPROTigard #SERVPRO #SERVPROBeaverton #FirePreventionMonth
