Banned Book Week- The Giver

This week is Banned Book week, a time to honor and fight for books that have been challenged or banned for various reasons, to make sure that they are part of our lives and our development. Judy Blume said it best; “Something will be offensive to someone in every book, so you’ve got to fight it.” So many books on various lists, are beloved classics that shaped us, our expression and our worldview. The Giver paints a picture of a community that has been carefully crafted to look safe and welcoming but reality is something different. “Of course they needed to care.
