Safety tips for fireplaces in homes

When winds start to climb during the fall and winter it’s not uncommon to lose power for a few hours. When power goes out and the house starts to get cold make sure to follow these safety tips when using your fire place. Only burn dry, split firewood; avoid chemically treated wood. Install a chimney cap. Always test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Make sure to close the damper when not in use.
